Services

End-to-end expertise.
Solutions that last.

One team across technology, strategy, data, AI, cybersecurity, and delivery. When the disciplines need to talk to each other, that's our problem to sort out, not yours.

01

Technology

Modern architecture, cloud, data, AI, and security for environments where uptime and auditability are requirements, not options.

02

Strategy

Roadmaps that survive contact with real budgets, procurement timelines, and the systems already in place.

03

Execution

From plans to working systems. The implementation, testing, and follow-through that most firms hand off to someone else.

Why us

Why organizations
work with us.

01

Senior people do the work.

You will not meet experienced consultants at the pitch and then hand off to someone learning on your program. The people you meet are the people who deliver.

02

Two industries, not twelve.

Government and healthcare have specific regulations, procurement realities, and failure modes. We know two markets well rather than claiming to know all of them.

03

We build for the handoff.

Every engagement ends with your team more capable than when we arrived. Documentation and knowledge transfer are in scope from day one.

04

We tell you what we think.

Including when the project should be smaller, sequenced differently, or not started yet. That conversation is more useful than a proposal that tells you what you want to hear.

Industries

Two industries.
Both understood deeply.

Government and healthcare are not generic markets. Each has its own procurement rules, compliance obligations, and ways that technology programs go wrong. We focus on both because broad expertise in every sector means shallow expertise in each one.

Government building exterior
Government

Technology that supports the mission.

Federal, state, and local agencies modernizing aging systems, meeting security and accessibility requirements, and adopting new technology in a way that survives an audit.

  • Security mandates and FedRAMP authorization
  • Legacy modernization with continuity of service
  • AI governance, inventory, and oversight
  • Accessibility compliance and remediation
Modern hospital corridor
Healthcare

Technology designed around better outcomes.

Health systems, payers, and public health organizations modernizing technology while navigating interoperability requirements, privacy obligations, and deadlines that do not move.

  • EHR strategy and interoperability requirements
  • Data architecture and standards-based exchange
  • AI governance for clinical and operational use
  • Privacy, security, and audit-ready documentation
The best solution is not necessarily the newest technology. It is the one that works for this organization, with these constraints, these people, and this budget.

Innovation Sense — Approach

About us

Turning complexity
into capability.

A women-owned consulting firm that combines technology expertise, strategic thinking, and real delivery experience for government and healthcare organizations.

Technology should make organizations more capable, not more dependent on the people who built the system. That shapes how we scope work, how we document it, and when we say the job is actually done.

Professional team meeting in a modern conference room
Our promise

Systems designed
to perform.

A successful technology initiative is not measured by what gets installed. It is measured by what still works two years later, when the original team has moved on and the requirements have changed.

We help organizations build environments that are secure, resilient, scalable, and documented well enough to outlive the project that created them.

Complex technology challenges rarely stay in one lane. A cloud migration becomes a security problem. A data project becomes a governance problem. Innovation Sense brings all the disciplines together in one team.

The question each service answers

01What should we do, in what order?
02How do we get off this system safely?
03Where should this run, and will it hold?
04Can we trust our data? Where does AI help?
05What is our real risk, and what do we fix first?

Technology Strategy

Technology decisions require
more than technology expertise.

Organizations rarely struggle because they do not know they need to modernize. The problem is that modernization competes with everything else — systems that cannot be switched off, budget cycles that do not match project timelines, security requirements that show up mid-design.

We help leadership teams turn those variables into a strategy that can actually be executed and defended to whoever has to approve it.

What we do

  • Assess — understand the current environment, capabilities, constraints, risks, and costs. Including the parts that are not in any documentation.
  • Define — establish the future-state architecture and the capabilities needed to get there.
  • Prioritize — work out which investments deliver the most value, and which ones everything else depends on first.
  • Roadmap — sequence the work against real budgets, dependencies, and risk tolerance.
  • Execute — turn the strategy into programs that can be scoped, funded, and staffed.

How an engagement works

Most people start with an assessment. It is the lowest-risk way for both sides to find out whether the fit is real before committing to something larger.

EngagementHow long
Technology assessment3–5 weeks
Modernization roadmap6–10 weeks
Architecture engagement4–8 weeks
Ongoing advisoryMonthly

What makes this different

We write down why, not just what. A roadmap that loses its reasoning the moment a budget shifts is not a roadmap. It is a document that requires a consultant to interpret it.

Digital Modernization

Modernize systems.
Simplify operations.

Legacy systems are rarely kept because anyone likes them. They are kept because the work they do is load-bearing, the logic inside them was never written down, and the risk of a bad transition feels higher than one more year of maintenance.

That calculation is usually right. Until it is badly wrong. We help organizations modernize on purpose, in sequenced steps, with the transition planned as carefully as the destination.

What we do

  • Decide what happens to each system — retire, keep, move, rebuild, or replace. Most environments need all five, and treating everything the same way is the expensive mistake.
  • Recover the logic before replacing the system. The rules buried in old applications are often the only record of how the organization actually works.
  • Plan the transition — the overlap period, data migration, rollback path, and cutover. This is where these programs fail, not the build.
  • Sort out the integrations. A decade of point-to-point connections is usually the real reason nothing can change.
  • Plan for the people — training, process change, and support during the switch, scoped as real project work.

How an engagement works

Most people start with an assessment. It is the lowest-risk way for both sides to find out whether the fit is real.

EngagementHow long
System inventory and disposition4–8 weeks
Modernization design6–12 weeks
Integration strategy4–6 weeks
Transition supportProject-based

What makes this different

Modernization should not just replace old technology with new technology. It should leave the organization more capable, with fewer workarounds and fewer systems only one person understands.

Cloud & Infrastructure

Infrastructure built
for what's next.

Cloud stopped being a decision and became a set of consequences. Most organizations now run a mix of cloud, on-premises, and hosted systems, with governance and security designed for whichever came first.

We help organizations design infrastructure that matches how they actually operate. Secure, resilient, affordable to run, and supportable by the staff they have.

What we do

  • Cloud strategy — which workloads belong where, what the move actually costs, and what has to be true before anything moves.
  • Architecture — network, identity, segmentation, and the guardrails that stop an environment drifting six months after handover.
  • Migration — wave planning, dependency mapping, cutover, and validation.
  • Hybrid and on-premises — not everything should move to the cloud, and a good hybrid design is a legitimate destination.
  • Resilience — continuity and recovery designed against real objectives, documented, and actually tested.
  • Cost and governance — tagging, policy, and a cost model finance can reconcile.

How an engagement works

Most people start with an assessment.

EngagementHow long
Cloud readiness assessment3–5 weeks
Architecture design5–8 weeks
Migration supportProject-based
Resilience review3–4 weeks

What makes this different

We design for the team you will actually have. An elegant architecture that requires a platform team you cannot hire is not an architecture. It is a future outage waiting for a date.

Data & AI

Turn data into intelligence,
and intelligence into action.

Most organizations do not have an AI problem. They have a data problem that AI has made impossible to keep ignoring.

AI is genuinely changing how organizations operate. But the value depends on what is underneath it — the quality of the data, the clarity of the use case, and whether anyone can explain how a decision was reached when someone asks. In government and healthcare, someone always asks.

What we do

  • Data foundations — knowing what data exists, what it means, who owns it, how it moves, and how good it actually is.
  • Analytics and reporting that people trust, because everyone is finally counting the same way.
  • AI use case triage — separating the uses that create real operational value from the ones that make a good demo.
  • AI inventory — finding where AI is already in use, including capabilities buried inside software bought for other reasons.
  • AI governance — clear accountability, a review path for new uses, human oversight where it matters, and documentation that is built into the work rather than reconstructed under pressure.
  • Monitoring after launch, so you find out when a model starts drifting before someone else does.

How an engagement works

Most people start with an assessment.

EngagementHow long
Data foundation assessment4–6 weeks
AI readiness and use case triage3–5 weeks
AI governance program6–10 weeks
Build and implementationProject-based

What makes this different

We will tell you which AI use cases not to pursue. The most valuable output of an AI assessment is usually a shorter list than the one you started with, and the reasoning to defend that decision.

Cybersecurity

Security should enable
modernization, not prevent it.

Security arrives late in most technology programs, and by then the cheapest decisions have already been made. A design that works, a security review that objects, and a compromise that satisfies neither. That pattern is expensive and avoidable.

We work the other way. Security requirements go in alongside the functional ones, and the compliance documentation comes out of the design rather than being a separate project that follows it.

What we do

  • Risk assessment — a documented, defensible picture of your actual risk, not a generic checklist. In regulated environments, this is also the first thing an investigator asks for.
  • Security architecture — segmentation, identity, logging, data protection, and monitoring designed together, not bolted on separately.
  • Zero Trust, sequenced practically — usually starting with identity, because everything else depends on it.
  • Identity and access — stronger authentication, privileged access controls, and keeping permissions from quietly accumulating again.
  • Compliance posture — measuring the gap against whichever framework applies and sequencing the fix.
  • Vendor and third-party risk.

How an engagement works

Most people start with an assessment.

EngagementHow long
Security assessment3–6 weeks
Framework gap analysis3–5 weeks
Security architecture design4–8 weeks
Ongoing security advisoryMonthly

What makes this different

Findings are written to be acted on, with the remediation sequenced by risk and by what the organization can realistically absorb in a budget cycle.

Implementation & Delivery

From recommendation
to reality.

Technology programs rarely fail at the design stage. They fail in the eighteen months afterwards, when requirements drift, a vendor misses a date, and nobody wants to be the one to say the schedule is no longer real.

We help organizations run complex programs from planning through go-live, with the kind of disciplined management that surfaces problems while there is still time to do something about them.

What we do

  • Program and project management — planning, dependencies, risks, and governance that produces decisions rather than meetings about decisions.
  • Technical oversight — someone who can read the design and tell you whether "ninety percent complete" is actually true.
  • Integration management — owning the seams between vendors and systems, which is where the schedule usually goes.
  • Vendor coordination — holding several delivery partners to one plan and one definition of done.
  • Testing — acceptance criteria agreed before the build, not negotiated after it.
  • Change, training, cutover, and handover to the people who will run the system when we leave.

How an engagement works

Most people start with a program health review.

EngagementHow long
Program health review2–4 weeks
Program managementLength of the program
Integration managementProject-based
Go-live and transition support4–12 weeks

What makes this different

We do not disappear after delivering a roadmap, and we do not mistake reporting for management. If a date is not going to hold, you hear it while there is still something to be done about it.

Government

Technology built around
the mission.

Government technology decisions happen at the intersection of mission, security, accountability, procurement, policy, and a budget that was set before the requirement existed. Any one of those can stop a good technical plan. Together, they are why so many modernization programs stall between approval and delivery.

The pressures you are
managing at once.

  • Systems that are decades old and cannot simply be switched off, while most of the budget goes to keeping them running.
  • Security mandates on multi-year timelines, where the remaining work is generally the hardest part.
  • Cloud authorization requirements that are themselves being rebuilt.
  • Cybersecurity certification now appearing in live solicitations, changing what contractors must demonstrate and when.
  • An AI mandate stack that arrived faster than the capacity to meet it — governance, inventories, and oversight, alongside pressure to adopt quickly.
  • Accessibility obligations with hard compliance dates.
  • Modernization funding that has become less certain than the mandates it was meant to pay for.

How we help.

  • Technology strategy — assessments and roadmaps built around budget cycles and procurement lead times, not just the target architecture.
  • Digital modernization — legacy transition planning that accounts for continuity of service.
  • Cloud and infrastructure — architecture designed with the authorization boundary in mind from the start.
  • Data and AI — data foundations plus the inventory, governance, and oversight that AI use now requires.
  • Cybersecurity — risk assessment, security architecture, and framework gap analysis with defensible evidence.
  • Implementation and delivery — program management for multi-vendor programs with real deadlines.
  • Accessibility — designing and remediating to current standards, with the testing to back it up.

Designed for the realities of government.

Our approach accounts for more than the technology. Procurement timelines, appropriations cycles, security requirements, stakeholder alignment, and who will operate this in five years — all of it shapes what is actually buildable and what is not.

Accessibility is not a late-stage checklist.

Public-sector technology has to work for everyone who depends on it. Accessibility built in from the design phase costs a fraction of accessibility retrofitted after launch. Automated scanners do not close the gap on their own.

Innovation Sense is a woman-owned small business. We work with agencies directly and as a subcontractor and teaming partner to prime contractors and systems integrators.

Our capability statement, including codes and company data, is on our Capabilities page.

Healthcare

Technology designed around
better outcomes.

Healthcare organizations run some of the most complex technology environments in any industry, and the least forgiving. The systems support clinicians making decisions in real time. They hold data with strict obligations attached. They connect to dozens of external parties and cannot be taken down for a convenient weekend.

Pressures that
arrive together.

  • Interoperability has moved from aspiration to obligation, with real consequences for getting it wrong.
  • Payers face API requirements with defined scope, one of the few large healthcare programs where the requirement, the standard, and the deadline are all unambiguous.
  • Certification and data standards keep advancing on separate cycles, which regularly leaves organizations building against a version already superseded.
  • Privacy and security enforcement has sharpened around whether an organization did a genuine, documented risk analysis.
  • AI is already deployed in documentation, revenue cycle, and imaging. The governance around it has not kept pace.
  • Platform transitions are consuming years of organizational capacity.
  • Every technology investment competes with a direct clinical or operational need.

How we help.

  • Technology strategy — application and integration strategy around the EHR, sequenced against clinical operations.
  • Digital modernization — workflow and systems modernization designed around clinical reality, not the org chart.
  • Cloud and infrastructure — architecture and resilience where downtime has clinical consequences.
  • Data and AI — data architecture, analytics, standards-based exchange, and governance that makes AI defensible.
  • Cybersecurity — risk analysis, security architecture, identity, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Implementation and delivery — program and integration management for platform transitions and multi-vendor builds.

Technology should support care.

We focus on solutions that remove steps rather than add them. A technically successful implementation that increases clinician burden has not succeeded.

Privacy and security are design inputs.

The question is whether you can demonstrate, with documentation, on request, that you understood your risks and acted on them. We build that evidence into the work.

AI, deployed responsibly.

The question is whether you know where it is, who is accountable, how it is monitored, and what happens when it is wrong. We help organizations answer those four questions.

Approach

Technology consulting
grounded in reality.

The best solution is not necessarily the newest technology. It is the one that works for this organization, with these constraints, these people, and this budget. And that will still be supportable after we leave.

What it is like
—
You work with the people you met.

The team that scopes the engagement delivers it. There is no handoff to junior staff after the pitch.

—
We write things down.

Decisions, assumptions, and the reasoning behind them. A recommendation without its reasoning is useless when circumstances change.

—
You hear bad news early.

Early is uncomfortable. Late is expensive. We surface problems while there is still time to do something about them.

—
We plan for our own exit.

Knowledge transfer is in scope from the start. The goal is an organization that is more capable after we leave, not more dependent on us.

About

Technology
with purpose.

Innovation Sense was built around a simple idea: the best technology starts with understanding the problem. Not the technology available. Not what worked somewhere else. The actual problem.

Why we started.

I spent years inside large consulting firms watching the same pattern repeat itself. A senior team would win the work, present a compelling strategy, and then hand the actual delivery to people who had never been in the room. The client would get a polished deck and a junior team. The program would stall. And by the time anyone admitted it, the firm had already moved on to the next proposal.

That pattern is especially costly in government and healthcare, where the stakes are not quarterly earnings but real services that real people depend on. A stalled modernization at a federal agency means staff working around broken systems for another two years. A failed EHR implementation means clinicians spending time on documentation instead of patients. The cost is never abstract.

I started Innovation Sense because I believed there was a better way to do this work. Smaller. More focused. With the people who scope the engagement actually delivering it. With two industries understood deeply rather than twenty claimed broadly. And with a commitment to leave every client more capable than we found them, not more dependent on us.

Government and healthcare are not glamorous markets. They are complex, slow, heavily regulated, and full of constraints that most technology firms find inconvenient. That is exactly why I chose them. The organizations that operate in these spaces do work that matters. They deserve technology that holds up.

Our principles.

Mission First

We begin with the outcome, not the technology.

Excellence in the Details

Complex environments leave little room for assumptions.

Senior Expertise

Experienced professionals stay actively engaged. The people you meet are the people who do the work.

Practical Innovation

We pursue innovation where it creates real value, and say so when it does not.

Partnership

We work alongside our clients rather than advising from a distance.

Accountability

We take responsibility for the quality of our work and the outcomes we help create.

Professional woman in a business setting

Our founder

Founder & Principal

Innovation Sense was founded on a clear conviction: that government and healthcare organizations deserve the kind of technology leadership that actually stays through the hard part. The part where plans meet reality, deadlines shift, and the people who wrote the strategy are nowhere to be found.

Innovation Sense works where mission requirements, security mandates and systems that were never designed to talk to each other all meet at once. Cloud migrations that turn into identity problems. Data initiatives that turn into governance problems. Modernization programs where the real work starts after the contract is signed.

The firm works across technology strategy, enterprise architecture, digital modernization and program delivery, with attention to the procurement realities, compliance frameworks and operational constraints that shape what is actually buildable in a regulated environment.

What we think the field gets wrong: too many technology programs are designed to be defensible rather than useful. The goal should be a system that works for the people who operate it, not a deliverable that satisfies a contract line item. That distinction is worth fighting for.

Woman-Owned.
Mission Focused.

Innovation Sense is founded and led by a woman who built her career in rooms where people who looked like her were rarely the ones making the technical calls. That experience did not make her cautious. It made her precise.

Woman ownership at Innovation Sense is not a certification strategy. It is a reflection of how the firm makes decisions: with a long view, a focus on outcomes over optics, and a genuine commitment to the organizations and people the work is meant to serve.
